Williamston, MI | 4/8/24 – This Friday, April 12, marks the commencement of a new tradition as the Williamston Hornets face off against the Ovid Elsie Marauders in the first-ever "Pink Ribbon Rivalry" soccer game. The match, hosted in Williamston, goes beyond the competition on the pitch. It is dedicated to honoring four courageous Williamston teachers, representing the one in eight women nationally, who are bravely fighting breast cancer.
In a powerful display of solidarity and support, athletes from both teams will wear pink warm-up shirts, among other surprises, to stand with the teachers and women everywhere battling this formidable disease. Additionally, all fans are asked to wear pink. The "Pink Ribbon Rivalry" is not only a testament to community spirit and resilience but also a beacon of hope in the fight against breast cancer.
Furthering their commitment to making a difference, Williamston and Ovid Elsie are joining forces to raise funds for cancer research. A donation page has been established in partnership with the American Cancer Society, allowing fans—whether attending the game in person or supporting from afar—to contribute to this critical cause. It is a profound opportunity for everyone to take a stand against breast cancer, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to cancer research.
