Lady Marauders Improve to 5-1

Ovid-Elsie improved to 5-1 Wednesday night with a 56-16 win at Burton Bendle.  Ava Bates led all scorers with 11 points while Madison Cunningham reached a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

"We played fast and that is our goal," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham.  "We need to use our speed and athleticism to create some scoring opportunities and we did just that."

The Marauders jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and followed it up with a 12-0 second quarter to lead 32-6 at half.  A 10-3 third quarter followed by a 14-7 fourth quarter kept the Tigers at bay.

Kiah Longoria (5 rebounds) and Caitlyn Walter (3 steals) each chipped in with 8 points while Evalyn Cole added 7 points and 4 rebounds.  Hailee Campbell and Braeden Tokar both scored 4 points and Tristin Ziola and Braylon Byrnes each added 2.  Tokar also led in assists with 5 as the Marauders assisted 18 times on 24 made baskets.

Due to contact tracing throughout the conference, the Lady Marauders will now face Byron Friday at home.  Byron boasts an undefeated record and has only lost once in the last two years (29-1).  Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
