Lady Marauders Turn Away Bentley

Ovid-Elsie and Bentley entered tonight's contest with even records at 1-1, but it was the Marauders who would prevail in this non-conference game, 63-18.

"I think we're starting to figure things out.  We came out with a lot of intensity on the defensive end and we executed better offensively.  This group is beginning to gel and the chemistry is evident," said head coach Ryan Cunningham.

Sophomore Kiah Longoria paced the Marauder attack with 12 points and 4 assists while Braeden Tokar added 10 points and Caitlyn Walter 9.  Madison Cunningham chipped in with 7 points, Tristin Ziola and Evalyn Cole with 6 points each, Hailee Campbell and Kaylee Hall with 4 points each, Ava Bates 3 and Braylon Byrnes 2.  Tokar grabbed 4 steals and Byrnes 3 while Longoria, Tokar and Byrnes led the way on the boards with 4 each.

"This was a total team effort tonight.  Everyone contributed in some way and that's a great thing.  It is not too often when all ten players reach the scoring column," added Cunningham.

OE opened with a 15-2 first quarter before taking a 15-8 second quarter to lead 30-10 at half.  The Marauders put up 20 in the third and led 50-16 after three.

The Laingsburg game for Wednesday night has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.  The Marauders hope to pick up another game before opening league play on Monday at Montrose.
