Girls Varsity Cross Country at Regionals

Marauders Lose: -
Hundreds of runners converged on DeWitt High School to compete in a regional race with hopes of qualifying for the MHSAA Cross Country State Finals Meet. Members of the Ovid-Elsie Cross Country Team competed well amidst a field of great runners and several Marauders earned a trip to the state finals! State qualifiers include Clay Powell (9th place), Clarissa Baese (13th place), Piper White (19th place), Joshua Miller (19th place), and Kaia Spiess (24th place). The state finals meet will take place on November 4th at Michigan International Speedway.

The O-E girls cross country team finished 5th at the Shiawassee County Meet. Top finishers include Clarissa Baese and Piper White, who both earned second-team all-county honors.

The O-E girls cross country team capped off a phenomenal conference season by earning a third straight MMAC league title. The Marauders were once again led by Clarissa Baese whose time of 20:42 earned her not only first-team all-conference honors but also the title of top female runner in the league. Piper White finished second with a time of 21:25 and Kaia Spiess finished fourth place at 22:00 earning both girls first-team all-conference accolades. Additionally, Audrey Bensinger ran a 23:05 to secure her spot among MMAC second-team all-conference runners.

The O-E girls cross country team ran well at the first MMAC league meet of the season finishing in 1st place over New Lothrop. They were once again led by Clarissa Baese who finished first in the league. She was followed by Kaia Spiess who finished 4th and Piper White who secured the 5th spot. The top 5 was rounded out by Audrey Bensinger 11th and Hannah Koutz who finished 21st. The team’s first-place finish was bolstered by gutsy performances from Kyla Washburn, Lindsey Washburn, and Katelyn Wright.

The O-E girls cross country team ran well at the Marauder Invitational finishing 5th overall as a team. They were led by Clarissa Baese who medaled with a 7th place finish and a time of 22:05. She was followed by Piper White who also medaled with a 12th place finish at 22:29. Kaia Spiess also earned a medal as a result of her 21st place finish at 23:11 The top 5 was rounded out by Audrey Bensinger 26:42, and Hannah Koutz 27:59.

The O-E girls cross country team ran well at Saranac, finishing 4th overall as a team. Clarissa Baese led the way and medaled as a result of her 11th place time of 21:37. She was followed by Piper White who also medaled with a 13th place finish at 21:58. The top 5 was rounded out by Kaia Spiess who medaled with a 20th place finish at 22:24, Audrey Bensinger 24:21, and Hannah Koutz 27:37.

The O-E girls cross country team raced “Under the Lights” at St. John’s High School against a field of 165 runners to kick off their season. The girls team finished 8th out of 18 teams. Clarissa Baese led the way and earned a spot on the award stage as a result of her 25th place time of 22:11. She was followed closely by teammate, Piper White who finished 28th with a 22:16. The top 5 was rounded out by Kaia Spiess who finished 38th, Audrey Bensinger 65th, and Hannah Koutz taking the 119th spot.
