Boys Varsity Cross Country at Regionals

Marauders Lose: -
Hundreds of runners converged on DeWitt High School to compete in a regional race with hopes of qualifying for the MHSAA Cross Country State Finals Meet. Members of the Ovid-Elsie Cross Country Team competed well amidst a field of great runners and several Marauders earned a trip to the state finals! State qualifiers include Clay Powell (9th place), Clarissa Baese (13th place), Piper White (19th place), Joshua Miller (19th place), and Kaia Spiess (24th place). The state finals meet will take place on November 4th at Michigan International Speedway.

Marauders Lose: -
The O-E boys cross country team competed well at the Shiawassee County Meet, finishing 2nd to Corunna. Clay Powell earned first-team all-county honors. His teammates, Joshua Miller, Travis Wright, James Kelly, Mitchell Gonzalez, Jeremiah Stewart, Colton Sempsrott, and Jacob Kast helped secure their 2nd place finish.

The O-E boys cross country team competed well at the final MMAC league meet, finishing 2nd to Lakeville. Several Marauder runners earned top honors. Clay Powell raced to victory by running a 16:56 which earned him first-team all-conference honors and secured the title of top male runner in the league. Joshua Miller ran an 18:34 earning first-team all-conference honors. James Kelly posted a time of 18:48 earning him a spot among second-team all-conference honorees and Travis Wright earned honorable mention accolades with his time of 19:31.

The O-E boys cross country team competed well at the second MMAC league meet of the season finishing 2nd to Lakeville. The Marauders were once again led by Clay Powell who finished 2nd. He was followed by JD Miller who finished 7th and James Kelly who secured the 9th spot. The top 5 was rounded out by Travis Wright 25th and Mitchell Gonzalez who finished 27th.
The O-E girls cross country team ran well at the second MMAC league meet of the season once again finishing in 1st place over New Lothrop. They were led by Clarissa Baese who finished 1st. She was followed by Piper White who finished 2nd and Kaia Spiess who secured the 4th spot. The top 5 was rounded out by Audrey Bensinger 12th and Hannah Koutz who finished 24th.

The O-E boys cross country team competed well at the first MMAC league meet of the season finishing 2nd to Lakeville by the narrow margin of 3 points. The Marauders were once again led by Clay Powell who finished first in the league. He was followed by JD Miller who finished 8th and James Kelly who secured the 10th spot. The top 5 was rounded out by Travis Wright 17th and Jeremiah Stewart who finished 28th.

Over 400 runners converged on Uncle John’s 5k course for the 22nd Annual Marauder Invitational. The O-E boys cross country team earned an 8th-place finish. Clay Powell led the way and medaled as a result of his 6th place time of 17:17. He was followed by James Kelly who also medaled with a 30th place finish and a time of 19:19. The top 5 was rounded out by JD Miller at 21:11, Travis Wright 21:52, and Jeremiah Stewart 22:37.

The Ovid-Elsie boys cross country team competed well at Saranac, finishing 5th overall as a team. They were led by Clay Powell who medaled with a 10th place finish and a time of 17:12. He was followed by JD Miller who also medaled with a 29th place finish and a time of 18:58. The top 5 was rounded out by James Kelly at 19:22, Travis Wright 20:18, and Jeremiah Stewart 21:53.

The Ovid-Elsie boys cross country team kicked off their season “Under the Lights” at St. John’s High School competing in a field of over 200 runners. The team finished 15th out of 17 total teams. They were led by Clay Powell who took 29th place with a PR time of 17:51. He was followed by James Kelly who finished 77th with a time of 20:10. The top 5 was rounded out by Travis Wright who finished 131st, Jeremiah Stewart 138th, and Colton Sempsrott finishing at the 175th spot.
