The junior varsity Lady Marauders got off to a slow start as early turnovers helped the Byron Eagles jump out to a 10-4 lead early in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles employed a tight 2-3 zone and forced the Marauders to play more of a perimeter game. That came back to haunt the Eagles as the Marauders dropped 4 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter to take the 16-12 lead into halftime. In the 3rd and 4th quarters it was all about the Marauder defense. The Marauder defense gave up only 2 baskets the entire 2nd half and jumped out to a double digit lead in the 3rd quarter and never looked back. The Marauder defense was led by Izzy Loynes, Cari Martinez, Riley Lewis, Murphy Alexa, and Hadley Bukantis and the pressure they were able to apply when using the 2-2-1 zone press. The Marauders were lead in scoring by Rylee Lewis who knocked down 3 3-pointers to end with 9 points, Loynes and Martinez had 7, Alexa had 6, and Bukantis had 5 to round out the scoring. The Marauders look to avenge their only loss of the season on Thursday as they host Chesaning at 5:30. The Marauders are currently 6-1 in conference play, and 10-1 overall.
