The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders made it two straight conference wins with a 30-16 effort against New Lothrop Tuesday night.  The win leaves Ovid-Elsie at 3-2 (2-0 MMAC) while the Hornets fall to 2-2 (1-1 MMAC).

Ovid-Elsie used tough defense to hold the New Lothrop offensive attack in check holding the Hornets to just 3 points in the middle quarters (9-3).  Ovid-Elsie used an 11-5 scoring run in the first stanza and finished with a 10-8 fourth quarter.

"We couldn't buy a bunny tonight," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham, "but our defense was outstanding and that is where we hang our hat.  We made some good offensive adjustments in the second half and shots started to fall, but when you can hold a good team to 3 points over a two quarter stretch - that's pretty good."

The Lady Marauders struggled from the floor all night shooting only 27% but held New Lothrop to just 16% for the game.  Evalyn Cole (6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) and Ava Bates (6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks) shared scoring honors with 9 points each while Braeden Tokar added 8 points and 3 rebounds.  Izzy Loynes added a bucket and Hailee Campbell and Ellyannna Carman each added a free throw to round out the Marauder scoring.  Senior Kiah Longoria added 3 assists and 2 steals.

"The most important thing is that we got the win," added Cunningham.  "Our kids have a common goal and we achieved that.  We will continue to work hard and get better each night."

Ovid-Elsie out rebounded New Lothrop 29-17 and gave up only two offensive rebounds.  The Lady Marauders collected 10 steals on 17 Hornet turnovers and handed out 9 assists on 12 made baskets.

Friday night Chesaning will come to town for a 5:30 p.m. tip off.
