The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders clinched the MMAC Championship outright after defeating the Mt. Morris Panthers, 67-22 Friday night.  Ovid-Elsie remains unbeaten at 17-0 (13-0 MMAC).  The last conference title for the Lady Marauders was 1984.

"I thought our kids were really focused to open up the game," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. "Evalyn Cole did an amazing job at both ends of the floor. Her energy was contagious and it helped propel us to this monumental win."

Ovid-Elsie opened the game with a 26-3 first quarter surge and followed it up with a 23-4 second quarter to lead 49-7 at half.  The Lady Marauders would lead by as many as 50 points and outscored the Panthers 18-15 in the second half.

Cole had a career high 17 points to go along with 7 steals, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Ava Bates added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Caitlyn Walter (6 steals, 3 assists) and Hailee Campbell (3 steals) both added 9 points while Braeden Tokar chipped in with 8 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.  Braylon Byrnes and Rylee Lewis each added 6 points and Kaylee Hall rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

"I couldn’t be more proud of these kids," added Cunningham. "They’ve put the time in during the off season, committed to the weight room and have given their best all year. I’m so grateful to be able to coach such selfless kids."

Ovid-Elsie collected 30 steals on 32 Mt. Morris turnovers and handed out 21 assists on 26 made baskets.  The Marauders also out rebounded the Panthers 34-23, shot 92% from the foul line and 41% from the field on the night.

Ovid-Elsie will next host Auburn Hills Oakland Christian on Monday night before traveling to Goodrich on Tuesday and New Lothrop on Friday.
