The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders remained unbeaten (15-0, 10-0 MMAC) as they shot past LakeVille Wednesday night, 70-21.  LakeVille fell to 8-7 and 4-7 in the conference.

Ovid-Elsie got off to a quick start utilizing their pressure defense and some outstanding shooting against a stingy LakeVille zone defense and opened up the game with a 27-4 first quarter surge and followed it up with a 14-7 second quarter advantage to lead 41-11 at halftime.

"I thought we shot really well against the zone in the first half to build a nice lead," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham.  "And defensively, we were aggressive and were able to turn them over and limit their possessions."

The second half was very much the same as the Lady Marauders used scoring runs of 20-5 and 9-5 for the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

The story of the night was the three-point shooting by Ovid-Elsie as the team connected on 12 of 28 attempts.  The result - a new three-point record for Caitlyn Walter as she connected on 7 of her 14 attempts, breaking her own record of 6 (also held by Linnea Brandholm).  Walter would finish with a game high and career high 29 points to go along with 3 assists and 3 steals.  Rylee Lewis knocked down 2 three pointers and finished with 6 points while Braeden Tokar also knocked down 2 triples and Ava Bates 1 from long range.

Bates (5 rebounds, 4 steals) finished with 12 points and Tokar (7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals) finished with 11 points.  Hailee Campbell added 7 points and 4 rebounds, while Braylon Byrnes (3 rebounds) chipped in with 3 and Evalyn Cole with 2.  Cole also added 3 assists and 4 steals.

Ovid-Elsie handed out 19 assists on 25 made baskets and held a 31-16 rebound advantage.  The Lady Marauders collected 19 steals on 26 LakeVille turnovers.  OE shot 43% from 3-point range, 50% from 2-point range and collectively, 46.3% on the game.

Friday night Ovid-Elsie will travel to Durand High School for another MMAC showdown.  Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
