The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders improved to 11-0 (8-0 MMAC) with a 45-21 win at Byron Friday night. The Marauders opened up the game with smothering full court pressure outscoring the Eagles 20-4 in the first and 17-2 in the second.
"We played really well in the first half," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. "We executed our game plan and built a nice halftime lead."
Ovid-Elsie was able to get all players into the game and saw 8 of 12 girls reach the scoring column.
"We didn't play great in the second half but our game is full court and non-stop pressure. When we pulled back we lost some of our intensity but a win is a win and we are going to celebrate this one just like any other," added Cunningham.
Caitlyn Walter (5 steals) and Evalyn Cole (6 rebounds and 3 steals) paced the OE offense with 10 points while Kiah Longoria added 9 points. Ava Bates (8 steals) and Braylon Byrnes each added 4 points each while Kaylee Hall (3 steals) and Braeden Tokar added 3 points (7 rebounds), and Rylee Lewis added a pair of free throws to round out the Marauder scoring.
Ovid-Elsie will travel to Perry on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt as the JV girls will tip off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Varsity girls at approximatly 7:00 p.m.
