For seniors Caitlyn Walter, Braylon Byrnes and Kaylee Hall Friday night was a special night in which the Lady Marauders came away with a 69-9 win over the visiting Montrose Rams.  The evening was capped off with special recognition for the three outstanding senior hoopers.

Caitlyn Walter (17 points, 6 steals), Braylon Byrnes (7 points, 3 steals) and Kaylee Hall (6 points, 4 assists and 4 steals) each had outstanding games as Ovid-Elsie cruised to 9-0, 6-0 MMAC while Montrose fell to 5-4, 2-4 MMAC.

"I thought our defense was outstanding again tonight and that led to some easy buckets in the first half," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham.  "I didn't think we shot particularly well tonight but we found other ways to attack their zone.  It is awesome to see every kid reach the scoring column."

Ovid-Elsie held Montrose scoreless in the first half with quarter runs of 21-0 and 24-0 to lead 45-0 at halftime.  A 14-5 third quarter and a 10-5 fourth quarter kept the Lady Rams at bay.

Aside from the three seniors netting 30 of the Lady Marauders' 69 points, sophomore Ava Bates added 14 poinits, while Braeden Tokar (8 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals) added 6 points, Rylee Lewis 5 points, Kiah Longoria 4 points, Hailee Campbell (7 steals) and Izzy Loynes (6 steals) 3 points, Murphy Alexa 2 points, and Evalyn Cole (4 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals) and Katie "Meatball" Lorio each with a free throw each to round out the scoring for OE. 

Ovid-Elsie shot 44.6% from the field and 76.2% from the free throw line while collecting 38 steals on 48 Montrose turnovers.  The Lady Marauders also handed out 20 assists on 25 made baskets.

Ovid-Elsie will next play Chesaning on Tuesday night for another MMAC showdown.  Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. followed by the Varsity boys game at 7:00 p.m.  It will be another special night that will feature "Youth Basketball Appreciation Night" with some of the Red Cedar boys and girls teams playing at halftime of each game and a "White Out" theme for the MZone.
