The Ovid-Elsie Lady Marauders knocked down 9 three-pointers en route a 73-29 victory over the visiting Byron Eagles Tuesday night and improved to 8-0 (5-0 MMAC).  Caitlyn Walter had a game high 20 points including 4 of 5 from behind the arc while Rylee Lewis delivered on 3 of her 6 three point attempts finishing with 9 points.  Kaylee Hall also knocked down 2 of 3 long-range shots as the Lady Marauders finished 50% from deep.

"I thought we shot well in that first half and our defensive pressure was just a bit much for them," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham.  "With a week off, we spent a lot of time shooting and it paid off.  We know that a lot of teams will sit back in a zone but if we shoot like that, it will be difficult for teams to play zone on us."

With that week off, the Lady Marauders used fresh legs to turn the Eagles over 28 times including 17 steals.  Ovid-Elsie also assisted 23 times on 31 made baskets and shot 54% overall from the field.

"Our kids played really well and we had great contributions off the bench tonight," Cunningham added.  "But the biggest thing is the outcome and that is what we're focused on."

Ovid-Elsie opened up with a bucket by Hadley Bukantis and that sparked a 27-10 first quarter lead.  A 25-5 second quarter made it 52-15 at half.  The Lady Marauders used a 19-6 third quarter to keep the Eagles at bay before surrendering an 8-2 4th quarter in favor of Byron.

Senior Kaylee Hall finished with a career high 12 points, 4 steals and 3 assists while Ava Bates (5 assists, 3 steals), Evalyn Cole (4 assists, 4 steals) and Braylon Byrnes (3 assists) each scored 8 points for OE.  Braeden Tokar chipped in with 4 points while Bukantis and Hailee Campbell rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.  Campbell also led the team in rebounding with 7 caroms.

The Marauders will host Montrose on Friday night for Senior Night - game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
