Ovid-Elsie traveled to Birch Run and came away with 59-54 win over the Panthers. After a big first quarter for the Marauders, Birch Run came storming back to take a six point lead at half.

“I told the girls in pregame that they had the best player on the floor so this would be a game of runs,” said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. “We just needed to make the final push and we did.”

Sarah Miller finished with a game high 28 points, but it was a trio of Marauders who outpaced the Panthers as Lauren Barton scored 19 points, Caitlyn Walter 15 points and Madison Cunningham had 11.

Cunningham added, “We played in a bit of foul trouble but when we won that third quarter our energy spiked and once we weathered that foul trouble, we started rolling again.”

Kiah Longoria added 9 points while Kaylee Hall added 3 and Kalista Bancroft 2.

The Marauders edged Birch Run 14-8 in the third to knot up the score 41-41 and then outscored the Panthers 18-13 in the final stanza.

Ovid-Elsie improves to 12-5 on the year and will play host to Mt. Morris on Friday for “senior night”.  Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
