The Ovid Elsie Boys JV basketball team competed in their first contest of the season on Tuesday night. They posted a 12 point win against a very hard playing Bath team.
OE's defense was the key to the win. It was not easy to score on the Marauders from the opening tip until the final horn. Coach Longstreth was very pleased with the first night's effort but is looking for the team to take the next step in their communication, positioning, and defensive rebounding. Brayden Ormes and Jamison Custer were both big parts of the defensive effort.
It was a slow night on the offensive side of the ball. The Marauders settled for some "OK" shots when better ones were available. Tryce Tokar did an excellent job running the offense. Along with scoring, he really set the pace of the game. Hunter Bates had a hard fought 10 points while battling a banged up knee.
Game #1 was a great starting point to where we want to go this season. The journey for improvement starts tomorrow!
