Ovid-Elsie traveled to Midland Monday night to take on the Bullock Creek Lancers in a non-conference match up. Bullock Creek would prevail 52-46.
Ava Bates had a game high 13 points to go along with 4 steals while Caitlyn Walter added 10 points and 4 steals, Evalyn Cole 8 points and Tristin Ziola 7 points and 9 rebounds for the Marauders. Ovid-Elsie falls to 9-4 while Bullock Creek improved their record to 7-7.
"We just didn't shoot well tonight," said Head Coach Ryan Cunningham. "We've been shooting really well lately against teams that play zone but tonight they just seemed to go halfway down and rattle out."
The Marauders shot just 4 of 24 from long range and 27% on the night despite shooting a solid 10 of 13 from the charity stripe.
"One of the things that stands out to me is that we only had 3 assists on the night," noted Cunningham. "We'll get a better look at it on film, but 3 assists on 16 made baskets is not what we're about."
Kiah Longoria chipped in with 4 points, Madison Cunningham 3 points, and Hailee Campbell a free throw to round out the Marauder scoring.
Ovid-Elsie will return to conference play Wednesday night as they host the Mt. Morris Panthers in a varsity girls game (only) starting at 6:00 p.m. The regular season will end on Friday night with the Marauders visiting Chesaning at 5:30 p.m.
Districts will begin on Monday, March 22nd with Ovid-Elsie taking on Durand in the 5:30 p.m. game at Owosso High School. The winner will advance to take on Corunna Wednesday night.
