Ovid Elsie met up with the Byron Eagle to decide the MMAC championship. The team met before with a 2-2 tie. The game was 0-0 through most of the first half until Cal Byrnes found Ian Heher across the goal. Ian finished the cross with a header to beat Byron's goalie. Both teams had a lot of shots but most just did not find the net. Ovid Elsie's keeper, Nate Reeser, had 14 saves.
Coach Fluharty said, our game plan was to score first then defend. I knew Byron had a dangerous attack but was confident that if we scored first we could defend well enough to hold on. Our defense led by Colin Fluharty and Brandon Grieder did a great job shutting down Byron's shooters. The other defenders Jesse Hodges, Kayden Leslie, and Evan Heher played great and did what the team needed to hold on to the lead.
